Makasutu is a palm forest located on the banks of a beautiful meandering tributary of the Gambia River, Madina Bolon, encompassing multiple ecosystems across dense forests, savannas and mangrove regions. This environment is home to hundreds of varieties of birds, 3 species of monkeys, monitor lizards, pygmy deer, geese and many other animals. You will travel down the river in “dug out” canoes as you drift along the waters seeing wildlife, fishermen and women harvesting oysters from the mangroves.
