DAY 1: ALTA PUSTERIA

Upon individual arrival at the hotel in Hochpustertal, guests can utilize the nearby free, unguarded public car park.

DAY 2: ALTA PUSTERIA — PRATO — CORTINA D’AMPEZZO

The more challenging route initially guides participants through the Braies Valley, offering an optional detour to the picturesque Lago di Braies Lake. Continuing to the elevated Prato Piazza plateau, with the imposing Dürrenstein and Hohe Gaisl peaks as a backdrop, the path descends through the Höhlenstein Valley along the historic military road. It then follows the old railway line “Ferrovia delle Dolomiti” over the Cimabanche Pass to the renowned Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The alternative, less demanding path leads directly along the railway track through the Höhlenstein Valley to Cortina d’Ampezzo. (Approximately 45 – 55 km, approximately 1,000 Hm or approximately 30-35 km; approximately 350 Hm)

DAY 3: CORTINA D’AMPEZZO — BELLUNO

For the more challenging option, cyclists first traverse the “Lunga Via delle Dolomiti” cycle path along the former railway line, offering splendid views of the Sorapis mountain range and the Cinque Torri rock formation. Following a steep ascent to Zoppè di Cadore, the highest municipality in Belluno, the route continues to Longarone.

En route, cyclists pass by Ponte nelle Alpi before reaching the day’s destination, Belluno. The easier route follows the cycle path to Pieve di Cadore, Longarone, and onward to Belluno. (Approximately 80 km, approximately 970 Hm or approximately 75 km, approximately 150 Hm)

DAY 4: BELLUNO — PIEVE DI SOLIGO — SUSEGANA

The more demanding itinerary commences with an ascent to the renowned high plateau Nevegal. Cyclists trace the route of the Giro d’Italia, which ascended from Belluno to Nevegal in 2011, offering panoramic views of Santa Croce and Morto Lake.

Continuing through the Prosecco Region, cyclists pass by the 17th-century Molinetta della Croda water mill before reaching the stage destination of Pieve di Soligo/Susegana, culminating the day with a glass of local wine. The easier path meanders through the valley, traversing hilly terrain past Lago di Santa Croce and through the Prosecco area to the day’s endpoint.

DAY 5: PIEVE DI SOLIGO — CAORLE

This stage offers a single route option, guiding cyclists along the Piave River. Transitioning from mountainous terrain to rolling hills towards Nervesa della Battaglia, cyclists pass through the Montello Nature Reserve en route to the Venice lagoon beaches.

Along the way, Noventa di Piave provides a popular stop for cyclists, offering shopping opportunities and a chance to rest. The route continues through Eraclea, known for its expansive pine forest, flat sandy beach, and picturesque dunes, before concluding in Caorle, a charming town in eastern Veneto. (Approximately 85 km, approximately 250 Hm)

DAY 6: CULTIRE AND RELAX IN CAORLE

Caorle boasts golden sandy beaches, historical landmarks, and scenic spots, creating an ideal backdrop for relaxation and exploration. The town’s historic center, divided into two halves, features winding alleys and a unique atmosphere throughout the year. Notable sights include an ancient cathedral, a distinctive cylindrical bell tower constructed in 1100, and the scenic “Scogliera Viva (Living Cliffs)” promenade along the seafront.

A highlight is the church of Madonna dell’Angelo, positioned by the sea.

DAY 7: CAORLE OR EXCURSION TO JESOLO OR VENICE

Guests can opt to spend the day at the beach, savoring culinary delights and sunshine.

For the more active, cycling to Jesolo or Venice and back to Caorle is a viable option, with ample bathing and refreshment opportunities along the way. (Approximately 25 km to Jesolo, approximately 67 km to Venice).

DAY 8: CAORLE

Depart at your convenience or the option to extend your stay.

Thank you and goodbye!

Time Required: 6/7 hours with a circular route.

Commencing with a meeting at 8:30 a.m., following standard administrative procedures and a brief overview, we anticipate readiness by 9:00 a.m. to embark on a thrilling day of adventure. Our journey begins with an ascent along the “Turrite di Petrosciana” course, culminating near the enigmatic “Tana che urla” (the screaming den) – Vallisneri’s cave. Participants have the choice to explore the cave, venturing through a narrow tunnel to enter the initial atrium, where the enchanting spectacle of stalactites and stalagmites awaits, enveloped in profound darkness momentarily. Our path leads us to the ancient ruins of the “Chiesaccia” hospital, a site steeped in mystery and historical intrigue within the Garfagnana region. Traversing through chestnut and beech forests, passing Celtic huts, and meandering along the ridge, we encounter the breathtaking natural arch, one of the most revered destinations in the Apuan Alps. A break is scheduled for lunch.

Subsequently, we descend towards our base in Fornovolasco by approximately 15:30 to commence canyoning activities. Equipped with neoprene suits, participants will navigate the refreshing waters of the Rio Battiferro through dives and slides. This engaging experience caters to individuals, families, and friend groups alike, with all essential gear provided (wetsuit, helmet, gloves, and appropriate footwear). Participants are advised to bring sneakers or hiking shoes for water traversal, a towel, spare swimwear, and a spirit of enthusiasm. The emphasis is on enjoyment without strict time constraints, promising a distinctive and memorable adventure that meets expectations.

The day’s activities conclude here. For those interested, an optional dinner at a traditional restaurant can be arranged to cap off the day.

• Hiking boots and clothing, packed lunch, water, K-way for the rain, and headlamp for those in possession.
• For canyoning: sneakers or hiking shoes for walking in the water, a towel, a spare swimming costume or underwear.

Day 1: MARINA DI CAMPO

Upon your arrival at Marina di Campo, settle in at your chosen hotel, Punto Verde, and unwind in a classic room.

Situated in a serene location close to Marina di Campo’s center, one of Elba Island’s most charming and distinctive villages, the hotel is a short stroll from the pine forest leading to the town’s sandy beach, well-equipped to cater to various preferences. The village, with its delightful seafront promenade, offers a vibrant ambiance throughout the summer, drawing visitors from across Elba with its array of clubs and diverse activities.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure, with dinner and overnight stay provided.

Day 2–5: MARINA DI CAMPO

Start your day with breakfast and enjoy leisure time and diving activities.

The diving center, centrally located in Marina di Campo, features a training area with a remote screen, restroom facilities, a snack and drink corner, changing rooms, showers, equipment rental and repair services, Wi-Fi access, and a coffee station. The diving center offers a convenient equipment pick-up service from your hotel, utilizing numbered net bags for your gear. Your equipment will be ready on the boats daily, with the center owning two boats and a rubber dinghy, accommodating up to 12 divers. The rubber dinghy is utilized for quick solo trips. Nitrox, trimix, and helium refills are available.

Recommended Dives:
Within a short distance from Marina di Campo, numerous dive sites cater to divers of all certification levels. Noteworthy sites, such as Secca di Fonza, Punta Fetovaia, the Corbella, the Remaiolo, and the Pomonte Wreck (accessible with a small fee), promise captivating underwater experiences. Each day, our boats will guide you through these vibrant and diverse seascapes. For diving schools, tailored dives can be arranged. Explore the Pianosa Marine Protected Area (additional charges apply).
Since July 2013, we have had the privilege to unveil the underwater marvels of Pianosa Island, previously off-limits for about fifty years due to its correctional facility.
Describing the wonders of Pianosa is challenging: an untouched coral reef, schools of barracuda, corvinas, groupers, snappers, various bream species, sea eagles, and stingrays await—essentially an underwater amusement park. Marina di Campo stands as the most convenient gateway to Pianosa, a mere 9-mile voyage to access five spectacular dive sites.

Day 6: DEPARTURE

Conclude your stay with breakfast and check-out. (Ferry service to/from Piombino available upon request).

Thank you and farewell!

Visits include highlights are Rizal Park, the country’s premier park and the site of many important events in the country’s history. Intramuros, the Spanish colonial city and the historic center and oldest district of Manila, also known as the “Walled City”. Tour at the Fort Santiago the Spanish fortress located at the entrance of the Pasig River. It is where the Philippines national hero Dr. Jose Rizal spent his final days and writing his famous “My Last Farewell” before being executed.

Ride around historic walled city of Manila on a bamboo bike. Enjoy history and fun all wrapped with this organic bicycle tour. You can enjoy this bambike tour as this will be more on Historical Values and Activities.

Stop 1: Plaza San Luis

Plaza San Luis is located at the cobblestones street of General Luna in Intramuros across the massive San Agustin Church.
Named after an old town in Manila, the complex is composed of nine
houses representing different eras of Filipino – Spanish Architecture. This mix represents the lifestyles of the Illustrados or the priviledged citizens during the late 19th and early 20th century in the Philippines.

Stop 2: Japanese Canon

Japanese canon is the type 10 or 12 cm/45 10th Year Type naval gun was a Japanese
120 mm calibre dual purpose anti-
aircraft and coastal defense gun used during the Second World War. It was derived from the 12 cm/45 3rd Year Type naval gun. The Type 10 number was designated for the year the gun was accepted, the 10th year of Emperor Taishō’s reign, 1927 in the Gregorian calendar. It served as the secondary armament on a number of Japanese aircraft carriers and cruisers and as the main armament on smaller ships, in single or twin mountings .

Stop 3: Puerta Real Gardens

Located inside the historically-rich city of Intramuros. The Puerta Real Garden has a lot of tropical greens and coconut palms that surrounded by 18th century stone walls. It was part of the ruins of a venue wherein it was exclusively used for state occasions for the Governor General during Hispanic Era.

Stop 4: Puerta Del Parian

The fact that the Spanish colonial authorities first built the walls around the Puerta del Parian is an example of the “mixed” attitude they had towards the Chinese in Manila. On one hand, the Chinese merchants have been a driving force in the city’s (as well as in the country’s) economy, especially in the flourishing galleon trade. On the other hand, the Spaniards looked at them with disdain and suspicion that they may soon overthrow the government, especially considering they might gain support from neighboring China. Because of this, the authorities imposed strict measures against the Chinese, forcing them to be confined within the Parian among them while the cannons from the walls around Puerta del Parian are ready to fire the moment any undesirable activity is detected. And indeed, the Chinese, especially in Parian, revolted against the government on a number of occasions to protest the harsh measures. One such revolt occurred in 1603 which, while crushed, merited the construction of an additional defense system around Puerta del Parian, a triangular fortification or ravelin or reveling in Spanish built in front of Puerta del Parian. This would become known as the Revellin del Parian. The Puerta del Parian would gain additional significance when in 1765, upon the destruction of the original Puerta Real (royal gate) during the British occupation of Manila, it was elevated to become the new royal gate of the Walled City. This means the gate would be the official entry and exit gate for use of the Spanish Governor General of the Philippines.

Stop 5: Aduana Building

The Aduana Building, also known as the Intendencia, was a Spanish colonial structure in Manila, Philippines that housed several government offices through the years. This two-storey governmental structure follows a Neo- Classical tradition, with an emphasized horizontality and
symmetrical form, particularly on the design of its façade. The central bay had three arched entrances and two principal staircases built around the two atriums. The rectangular
fenestration on the upper most story was decorated with rustication. The window-like portals opening out to small balconies were framed with pilasters topped with ornate capitals and were adorned with elaborate geometrical grillework. Similar ornate grillework also decorated the main entryways in the building.

Stop 6: Manila Cathedral & Plaza De Roma

Manila Cathedral is the cathedral of Manila and Basilica located in Intramuros, the historic walled city within today’s modern city of Manila Philippines. It is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, a title for the Blessed Virgin Mary. The cathedral was originally a parish church in Manila under the Archdiocese of Mexico in 1571, until it became a separate diocese. The cathedral was damaged and destroyed several times since the original structure was built in 1581while the eight and current structure of the cathedral was completed in 1958.

Stop 7: San Agustin Church

It was named a National Historical Landmark by the Philippine government in 1976. San Agustin Church ) is a Roman Catholic church under the auspices of The Order of St. Augustine, located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. Completed in 1607, it is the oldest church in the country. In 1993, San Agustin Church was one of four Philippine churches constructed during the Spanish colonial period to be designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, under the collective title Baroque Churches of the Philippines. After the activity and the tour, back to hotel.

Arrival: Participants will reach Otranto (or Lecce).

Initial briefing of the trip.

Day 2: SURROUNDINGS OF OTRANTO (29 KM)

Embark on our inaugural bicycle excursion through the environs of Otranto. Following the course of the “Idro” river, which lends its name to the city, we explore a historic Byzantine crypt dating back to the 13th century. Our journey continues to Casamassela, where traditional looms are still in use at the “Le Costantine” foundation. In Giurdignano, we encounter a Bronze Age megalithic garden, showcasing ancient “dolmen” and “menhir” prehistoric monuments. Amidst grand stones and majestic olive trees, we conduct a preliminary assessment to group participants by skill level.

Enjoy a lunch visit and culinary experience at a renowned bakery, where a local farming family crafts artisanal baked goods from heritage grains.

Return in Otranto for a leisurely afternoon exploring the city, with an optional sunset horse riding activity.

Day 3: OTRANTO — CASTRO (30 KM)

Today’s itinerary unfolds along the captivating Italian coastline, highlighting the remarkable Palascia lighthouse at the easternmost point of Italy and a picturesque lake formed in a former bauxite quarry, radiating natural beauty. As we traverse this easternmost region of the peninsula, clear skies offer views of the Albanian and Greek mountains across the bay. The morning ride culminates with Italian language classes atop our hotel’s rooftop terrace.

Enjoy breakfast and lunch.

DAY 4: CASTRO — SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA (27 KM)

Continuing along the Otranto-Leuca Coast, we encounter several fortified towers dating back to the 16th century, resiliently facing the sea. Upon reaching Marina Serra, an Italian lesson unfolds amidst a coastal pine forest, followed by an engaging interaction with members of Coppula Tisa, an active citizenship association. After a restful afternoon by a scenic bay, where swimming is possible, we proceed to Santa Maria di Leuca, embracing the sunset over the Ionian Sea.

Day 5: SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA

Today offers a relaxing respite from cycling activities. Following breakfast, partake in Italian language classes within the historic confines of a 20th-century villa.

A midday sailing excursion with onboard lunch adds a delightful touch to the day.

Day 6: SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA — CAPILUNGO (32 KM)

Embark on a day filled with Italian lessons while exploring the villages surrounding the captivating Capo di Leuca area. Journey through the ancient towers, underground oil mills, a pre-Roman city ruin, a Mausoleum housing Byzantine frescoes, a semi-abandoned castle, and an ancient pilgrim station boasting an immense underground space for pilgrims’ repose. A continuous Italian lesson accompanies these explorations.

Experience lunch at Pescoluse beach, renowned as the “Maldives of Salento,” and savor a lengthy seaside break. Before reaching Capilungo, indulge in a refreshing stop at Torre San Giovanni’s finest gelateria.

Day 7: CAPILUNGO — SANTA CATERINA (28 KM)

Today’s Italian lesson unfolds amidst a coastal pine forest neighboring one of Italy’s famed beaches.

Following lunch, a visit to Gallipoli, an ancient Roman-era city on an island now inhabited by fishermen, precedes our journey to Santa Caterina for an overnight stay at a sea-view B&B.

Enjoy breakfast and lunch.

Day 8: AROUND SANTA CATERINA & COOKING CLASS (16 KM)

Today marks the culmination of our Italian course with a hands-on cooking lesson and familial lunch at a local farmhouse, guided by one of our partner’s mothers in the region’s culinary specialties.

In the afternoon, venture on foot or by kayak to the Porto Selvaggio natural reserve, a scenic woodland by the sea.

Day 9: SANTA CATERINA — LECCE (42 KM)

Dedicate the entire day to cycling, ascending towards Lecce through the cultivated countryside. Admire the fortified farmhouses and 19th-century villas that grace the landscape en route to Nardò, known for its remarkable Baroque-style historic center. A stop at a renovated farm for an olive oil tasting precedes a visit to Copertino to explore its imposing Norman Castle and the legends of St. Joseph, the patron saint of flights.

DAY 1: PROLOGUE

Meeting in Lecce with our staff, bicycle delivery, GPS device, and briefing about the route, while tasting some local wine.

Dinner is reserved in a restaurant in the historical center, where typical dishes of the Apulian tradition awaits you.

DAY 2: LECCE — OTRANTO (58 KM)

Totally flat route with many interesting cultural and naturalistic sights, first, you visit Acaya—a fortified city with a huge castle. Then, you plunge down to “Le Cesine”, a WWF-protected area, a crossing point for many species of migratory birds. From there, you head to the coast, along the ruins of Roca Vecchia—an ancient Bronze Age Village, and then ‘Alimini’ Lakes, home to many different animal species. Some more kilometers and you are in Otranto, where narrow streets reveal wonders at every corner: The San Peter Church and its Byzantine Frescoes; a walk along the ramparts overlooking the sea, and finally the cathedral with its paved mosaic, one of the biggest in Europe— sort of figurative Middle Age Encyclopedia.

The day will end with a fine dinner reserved in one of the best restaurants in town.

DAY 3: OTRANTO’S SURROUNDINGS (29KM)

A day dedicated to exploring Otranto’s surroundings. Riding along the little river Idro (“water” in Latin), which gives the city its name. You visit a byzantine crypt from the XIII century and then you arrive in Casamassela, where ancient looms are still being used nowadays at “Le Costantine” Foundation. You, then move towards Giurdignano, crossing a Bronze age megalithic area, observing closely the so-called “dolmen” and “menhir”, which are prehistorical monuments.

For lunch, visit and a tasting in one of the most characteristic bakeries in the region, where a farming family has decided to transform ancient grains into baked goods with an ancient flavor.

Way back to Otranto and you are free to enjoy the afternoon visiting the town, swimming in a little beach close to the town, or making a horse ride along the cliffs at sunset (suitable also for beginners).

DAY 4: THE “PARK ROAD” OTRANTO — SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA (54KM)

Today, you cycle along the wildest coastal stretch of Salento: the lighthouse of Punta Palascìa in the extreme east of Italy, and a unique lake emerged in a disused bauxite quarry are among the greatest beauties you see just outside the city. Nestled among the cliffs above the sea, this road is a huge balcony that looks onto Otranto Strait and with a little bit of luck, you will be able to see the mountains of Albania and Greece. You could visit ‘Zinzulusa’ Cave, going down nearly 200 feet into the earth’s bowels. On the way to Leuca, you can admire some terraces and dry walls, the ingenious devices of peasants to get arable land in barren and impervious areas. Leaving the gracious harbor of Tricase in Marina Serra, there will be our friends from Celacanto waiting for you.

They prepare a tasting based on local products, produced by farmers of the Otranto-Leuca Reserve. After crossing the bridge over the “Ciolo”, a small canyon carved by the waters and rich in rare flora, you reach Santa Maria di Leuca where we visit the sanctuary, following the ancient pilgrims’ footsteps.

Dinner in a typical restaurant.

DAY 5: SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA — UGENTO (47 KM)

Today, you discover the area known as “Capo di Leuca”, the southern part of Apulia, one of the fewer know areas, but the most suggestive of Italy. Within a few kilometers, you pass by small hamlets, each one with its little treasure: in Salignano, an astonishing defense tower situated in the center of a small village; in Castrignano, you visit an ancient olive oil mill, drugged into the rock, and then an enigmatic funerary monument made by big stones; in Patú, (its name “Centopietre”, means “a hundred stones”), with byzantine frescos inside; then, you cross Giuliano with its ruined castle and finally, you visit Barbarano or Leuca Piccola (‘little Leuca’), an important pilgrimage station which still maintains a vast underground area. You keep cycling through olive groves and dry stone walls, crossing the countryside area named “Li Fani”. You reach the seaside known as “Salento’s Maldives”, and you can imagine why!

In the afternoon, you drive again into the countryside for a tasting of sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and more specialties made by one of the best producers in the area, ”i Contadini”.

Overnight in Ugento, where you can visit an archeological museum, or in a resort nearby the seaside.
The day finishes with a dinner of local dishes.

DAY 6: GALLIPOLI AND IONIC COAST (45 KM)

In the morning, you head towards the coast for a dip in the sea of “Saint Andrew’s island and Punta Pizzo Coast Natural Reserve”. Then, you move on to Gallipoli, located on an island. This small fishermen’s village is striking by its light, its alleys, and its fish market.

In the afternoon, Cantina Coppola, one of the ancient vineyards of the area will host you for a wine tasting. Enjoying the sunset, you cycle towards Santa Caterina, a quiet village on the borders of “Porto Selvaggio Natural Reserve”.

Dinner in the nearby village of Santa Maria al Bagno or in one Tenuta in the countryside.

DAY 7: GALLIPOLI’S SURROUNDINGS/ OPTION COOKING CLASS (45 KM/ 30 KM)

Today, it is possible to book a cooking class in a farmhouse – Tenuta Donn’Anna (Galatone), where one of our colleague’s mum will wait for you to cook together some traditional dishes. You get there by bike, and you might be accompanied by one of the team. Alternatively, you can do a longer tour – skipping the cooking class – and go to Galatina, where you can admire the church of Santa Caterina, totally painted with frescoes in Giotto’s style.

Then, visit the beautiful historical center of the town and have a tasting of local product in a Bottega, where the owner named Salvatore will be happy to host you and let you taste the best products of the area.

DAY 8: WAY BACK TO LECCE (42 KM)

Last day of your trip.

On your way to Lecce, you pass by many 19th-century fortified farmhouses and villas that characterized this part of the territory, until you get to Nardó to visit its remarkable baroque-style historical center. The next stop is in Copertino to discover its impressive Norman Castle and listen to stories about Saint Joseph of Copertino, ‘the Saint of the Holy of Flights’.

Late afternoon arrival in Lecce and bikes drop off. Final dinner in one of the best restaurants in the town, we greet you with a culinary journey that will leave you speechless.
