Commencing with a meeting at 8:30 a.m., following standard administrative procedures and a brief overview, we anticipate readiness by 9:00 a.m. to embark on a thrilling day of adventure. Our journey begins with an ascent along the “Turrite di Petrosciana” course, culminating near the enigmatic “Tana che urla” (the screaming den) – Vallisneri’s cave. Participants have the choice to explore the cave, venturing through a narrow tunnel to enter the initial atrium, where the enchanting spectacle of stalactites and stalagmites awaits, enveloped in profound darkness momentarily. Our path leads us to the ancient ruins of the “Chiesaccia” hospital, a site steeped in mystery and historical intrigue within the Garfagnana region. Traversing through chestnut and beech forests, passing Celtic huts, and meandering along the ridge, we encounter the breathtaking natural arch, one of the most revered destinations in the Apuan Alps. A break is scheduled for lunch.
Subsequently, we descend towards our base in Fornovolasco by approximately 15:30 to commence canyoning activities. Equipped with neoprene suits, participants will navigate the refreshing waters of the Rio Battiferro through dives and slides. This engaging experience caters to individuals, families, and friend groups alike, with all essential gear provided (wetsuit, helmet, gloves, and appropriate footwear). Participants are advised to bring sneakers or hiking shoes for water traversal, a towel, spare swimwear, and a spirit of enthusiasm. The emphasis is on enjoyment without strict time constraints, promising a distinctive and memorable adventure that meets expectations. The day’s activities conclude here. For those interested, an optional dinner at a traditional restaurant can be arranged to cap off the day.
