Enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour in Delhi, the capital city of independent India. It rewards the determined sightseers with more than a thousand monuments and two old capital complex buildings, including the present seat of the government designed by the British architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens. The cosmopolitan hotels, shopping centers, and fine restaurants abound. Delhi also offers a glimpse into the real India: the labyrinthine street bazaars of Old Delhi, the temples, and the monuments of Indian’s chequered colonial past. In the deepest sense from the Old Delhi’s Red Fort and Jama Masjid Mosque to New Delhi’s chic art galleries and nightclubs, Delhi is profoundly an Indian city. Your tour includes a visit to the Raj Ghat—the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi (Father of the Nation), and Jama Masjid Mosque, built in 1656 AD. Continue to drive past Red Fort, the narrow and the winding streets of Chandni Chowk Bazaar by a cycle rickshaw. The Red Fort (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is a 17th-century fort complex constructed by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan.
In the afternoon, explore the New Delhi, and its historical monuments like Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar, Laxminarayan Temple (a Hindu Temple), Parliament House, and India Gate (a War Memorial). Drive past the Rajpath.

A morning excursion to the enchanted Amber Fort, which was once the ancient capital of the region, now a deserted complex. However, it still recalls its heydays in the majestic ramparts rising steeply along the contoured hillsides. Here, elephants still carry visitors in stately splendours to the main Palace, through the unusual high gateways—obviously designed to accommodate this archaic mode of transport. In the afternoon, weave through the lively streets of the Jaipur City and visit the pink sandstone Palace of Winds, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar (observatory).

A 5-6 hrs morning drive to Agra, en route visiting the deserted palaces and pavilions of the Mughal Kingdom of Fatehpur Sikri, a World Heritage Site. On the way, stop for lunch at Bharatpur. Fatehpur Sikri is 40 kms from Agra, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. It was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other palaces. Agra is home to Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The mausoleum for Empress Mumtaz Mahal was built by her beloved husband, Shah Jehan. The Taj Mahal is often described as a ‘dream in marble’. The city of Agra, the quintessence of the grand Mughal era, reigns to this day in the public mind as the embodiment of royal grace, imposing architecture, and power.
